Spring 2019: the trend is Yellow by Admin

It seems like designers all agree this time and from runways to prêt-à-porter collections, yellow is THE trend of the Spring 2019.

In order, form left to right: Jacquemus, Balenciaga, Marc Jacobs, Brandon Maxwell, Carolina Herrera, Max Mara, Etro, Givenchy, Oscar de la Renta.

The bright color makes its big breakthrough and is a must-have of this spring. You can bet on summer dresses, blouses, shoes or other accessories to brighten up your wardrobe.

However, wearing yellow can be challenging. You have to be careful matching the right shade of yellow with your skin tone and hair color. For instance, if you are rather light-skinned with blond hair, you might want to go for a pale or pastel yellow while if you have dark hair and a rather dark skin, go for a sunny yellow or saffron!

The advantage of yellow is that you can basically wear it everywhere, from a casual street style with a matching pair of mom jeans for example to a classy yellow blazers with killer heels.

Not sure how to start wearing yellow? Our advice is to start small with accessories adding a nice color touch to your outfit, then when you feel more comfortable you can start wearing bigger yellow pieces and even go for the full yellow look.

What is ‘Camp’ fashion? by Admin

With the 2019 MET Gala which took place in New York City two days ago, we were all kept at the edge of our seat, waiting for celebrities to amaze us with their best looks. This fundraising event, taking place annually every first Monday of May and benefiting the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute, marks the launch of the new Costumes exhibit for the museum. This year’s theme “Camp: Notes on Fashion” is a perfect opportunity to ask ourselves, What is Camp fashion?

Susan Sontag’s 1964 essay defines Camp as “love of the unnatural: of artifice and exaggeration.” She is one of the first to have actually taken camp mainstream, but this art is still hard to define today!

Highly subjective and close to impossible to describe, Camp is said to be rooted in the LGBTQ community, and was for a long time marginal only to recently become more and more influent on mainstream culture. It is based on extravagance and is often described as an over-the-top fashion but the fact to have a whole exhibit on Camp art may be the best proof of its growing presence.

So… want to rock a Camp look? Just go extra!

In the end Camp is also about self-expression and escapism through fun fashion.

Maybe Camp is hard to define because it is not meant to be defined but rather experienced? Either way, the exhibit opens to the public this Thursday at the MET museum.

2019 is getting closer and so are all the festivities of winter. Today I’m going to share my favourite outfit ideas for that Pre-Christmas party, or how about wearing one of these outfits when popping the champagne on New Year’s Eve.

The last day of the year is our last chance to try out something new, so I want to encourage you to pick up an outfit that you’ve been wanting to wear but have never found the right time. Here come my top 5 outfit ideas for the winter’s biggest celebration. 1.FEELING LIKE A FIREWORK? Do you want to shine brighter than the fireworks at midnight? Then go for lots of glitter and sequins. New Year’s Eve is definitely the right time to put on these sparkly dresses that you’ve been hiding the whole year in your wardrobe.

Tumblr or Pinterest are only a few of the sites where to find the perfect outfit examples. Elena is 25 years old and she came to Barcelona from Venezuela. Her style is quite modern, yet laid back. You can also spot some vintage influence in her styling. Biggest fashion inspiration? Cindy Crawford and her classy stilizations!

Catalina is 19 years old and comes from Chile. We met her at the beloved skateboarder’s meeting spot near MACBA. She wasn’t really sure what inspires her, but without any doubt we can say that Catalina is really into skater girl scene. Just take a look!

Corenne is 26 years old and on daily basis lives in Switzerland. We met her at the entrance of the vintage shop in Raval district since she immediately grabbed our attention. The pièce was designed to symbolise freedom, affection, empathy. The giant kiss is designed to symbolise freedom, compassion and love. In addition to the deep message and values that the work presents, it is also a great place for stylish photo sessions!

3. MACBA – Barcelona Museum of Contemporary Art

MACBA is the most important museum of modern art in Barcelona, situated in the Plaça dels Àngels, in El Raval neighbourhood. The museum opened to the public on 28 of November 1995.

The museum offers not only a great exhibition, but its courtyard is a meeting place for skateboarders and young people. Why are we posting MACBA in the list of greatest photo spots? Simple. The modern, aesthetic architecture and fanciful design will fit just amazing with black and white minimalist outfits!

Best vintage shops in Barcelona by Admin

In Barcelona, there are hundreds of ways of spending your time – from visiting the most typical tourist spots, such as La Rambla, Sagrada Familia or other Gaudi’s breathtaking masterpieces to diving into Barcelona’s fashion spree. And that’s what we have done today. As you probably know, Barcelona is famous for the streets filled with exclusive shops like Gucci, Channel, Dolce&Gabbana, etc. However, not that many people know about the flourishing vintage shops and markets. We made a quick tour around the city and visited four amazing vintage shops. We made sure to take some amazing pictures just so you would see what it’s all about!

Soul

The first shop we visited was the vintage store named SOUL, situated at Carrer de Tallers. Crossing its thresholds, we found ourselves in a place that’s magical and a little dark filled not only with ordinary clothes but also with various kinds of disguises. See for yourself!

The second one was more casual and is maintained in the style of the past two decades. There, we found some 90’s style clothes like polo T-shirts, mom jeans, outworn Vans or Converse. What surprised us the most, was the large choice of football shirts! For anyone who loves old-school aura and football – we totally recommend it!

The greatest choice of accessories ever! Hats, all kinds of jewelry and neckerchiefs. When you enter the shop, you can definitely feel the 70’s vibe – the clothes are totally sublime and selected perfectly to capture the hippie era. Furthermore, the owner is very nice and helpful.

Lullaby
Let’s dive into the 50’s! This vintage shop is not only full of amazing clothes from a few decades ago, but has an extraordinary inside design as well. Unfortunately, not all the things are for sale, but still, it’s the great experience to admire the owner’s imagination.

Barcelona is the place to be, that is why it is one of the most visited city. When walking in Las Ramblas you can see how much it is popular by seeing the number of tourists every day. Once you have considered you have visited enough areas in the city centre, you can go to Casteldefells, for its less crowded beaches, as well as along the coast like Costa Dorada and Costa Brava.

With the rise of mobile applications and the clear tendency to be all the time on our smartphones, we are constantly analyzing the lives of each other, our styles, our physics.

It is like we are now living for others. Have you ever noticed that we only photograph or video the beautiful moments of our life? When we go out, travel or when we are looking gorgeous? Indeed, we choose the moments we want to share. Thus, Instagram is like utopia but we must not lose sight of the fact that this is not what real life looks like. People are not as flawless as we believe.

At the moment, if you scroll down your Instagram feed, you can see a lot of «bikini body», «prepare your body for summer», «how to be beach ready». Even before social media, with magazines and advertisements, we could see that the world incited us largely to believe in unique beauty, especially in the fashion world. But do not necessarily feel concerned about all the things you see in the media. There is no one role model. Life is not just fitness and eating healthy. Yes, it is good and yes your body will feel better.

But watch the rise of models like Ashley Graham and Iska Lawrence. Curvy models make their entry on the runway. We are who we are with our defects and our qualities. And look on Instagram the different posts on how to pose to make look better. Thus, do not think that all of the things you see and read are true. We don’t need to be skinny to look good. And if you want to do exercise, eat healthily, you must do it for yourself, not for the society. Remember that everyone is different and that what makes us beautiful.

What to put in your vanity for the summer by Admin

May has started well with a bank holiday to celebrate the International Workers’ Day. But it’s not because now we are working that we cannot think about our future trip to a dream destination. And because we want to be as organised as we are at the office, we like to plan things in advance. Thus, once our tickets are booked, we only need to think about what do we have to pack.

Girls always bring more than necessary. It is not a cliché. But we also often forget important things. Here, you will find a list of what you should buy to put into your vanity to be prepared to face a hard day on the sand facing the sea with only the sound of waves and seagulls.

A perfect vanity should not be too full. Think practical. Think about what you will need at the beach but also afterwards, when visiting and going out at night. We don’t use the same products during holidays than during our daily life. Our beauty routine changes because our habits and the environment we are in are different.

An important product not to forget is sunscreen. It is important to take care of your skin and avoid as much as possible damages. We don’t always realize the power of the sun on our body, that is why it is also important to bring an aftersun lotion that you will have to apply every day after your shower. You can also exfoliate your skin to peel off the dead skin, your tan will stay long after this.

If you go to the beach, you don’t necessarily wear makeup. We all like having makeup-free days, a natural complexion with beach waves hair. But for the people who still want to wear some makeup, look for a waterproof mascara, especially if you go for a swim and don’t want it to smudge under your eyes. Remember that alcohol and sun are not a good combination. If you want to wear perfume, find a selection that is alcohol-free. Otherwise, your skin will be irritated and itchy.

Lip balm is a must, with or without sunproof protection. You can also do lip scrub to take care of this sensitive part of your body that can also take sunburn. Finally, to accessorize your look, bring colourful nail polish, like red and coral. It always looks good with a nice tan on.

Nowadays, especially because of social media, far too many people don’t live for themselves anymore and do not take the time to observe and enjoy the beauty of what Nature has to offer.

Our smartphones are glued to our hands and our first reflex is to take a snap or an Instagram story. While, taking a picture is, first, asking ourselves which spot is the most beautiful one. We need to observe and take the picture with our eyes.

Then, therefore, we can look for the light, a natural one preferably, that will make the picture look better. There is also a good time for the so-called Instagram pictures, like sunrises or sunset. Do not hesitate to move, to have shots from different angles. Get closer to the object, the person to photograph or use a lens attachment on your phone. Do not hesitate to play with the subjects, the elements but also with the weather. Not only a portrait on a white background or a sun and a blue sky that will make a photo look pretty.

Keep the photo as original as possible, you don’t need to add many filters. Remember that it is pointless to flood your Instagram with photos without real purpose since taking a nice picture means taking a picture that has a sense for you, and only you.
